Nutrition is one of our 5 basic human needs. It provides nourishment for growth and sustainability, good health and optimal performance. A healthy body has a unique ability to source out and utilise what it can from food provided or draw upon its stores to sustain a healthy balance - homeostasis. However over time, as we consume foods of very little nutritional value, adequate nourishment is not provided and the body is forced to switch on compensatory mechanisms to sustain its function.  These adaptive responses are not optimal, they are meant to be temporary, and will in time lead to various imbalances and nutritional deficiencies. 
Ultimately, they lead to deterioration of our health and body composition, and consequently manifest in various signs and symptoms. This is how we may find ourselves frustrated and disappointed with our body’s capabilities and poor health as we age. It is only a natural consequence that poor quality of food will result in poor quality of our health.

Nutritional medicine looks at food, its nutrients and how diet affects health and well-being. It focuses on identifying the root cause of illness, and rather than treating signs and symptoms, it focuses on building the health and well-being of an individual. The signs and symptoms are our body’s way of informing us that something is not working optimally and needs to be addressed. Your nutritionist will recommend food, diet and nutritional supplements from the perspective of their therapeutic potential, to maintain health, prevent disease and assist in the treatment of a broad range of health conditions.


Nutritional Treatment involves individualised step by step plan that looks at improving your diet, supporting your body with therapeutic nutritional supplements and guiding you to make positive changes to your lifestyle. "Let food be your medicine and medicine your food" said Hippocrates back in 500BC.  However, we now live in an environment where time is scarce and we are constantly exposed to highly palatable convenient foods. It is therefore more important than ever,  to regain healthy relationship with our food.
